The Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye in the Ijebu North local government area of Ogun State, Oba AbdulRasaq Adenugba, has emphasized the importance of community support for security agencies to tackle the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria.
Speaking during a visit to the Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, in preparation for his 20th coronation anniversary, Oba Adenugba stressed that effective collaboration between Nigerians and security agencies is crucial in addressing insecurity.
The monarch praised the state and federal governments for their initiatives to combat insecurity and noted that public support can greatly enhance the efforts of security agencies. He encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities and not ignore potential risks.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the 20th Coronation Anniversary Planning Committee, Dr. Femi Bakre, highlighted the significant progress made in Ago-Iwoye since Oba Adenugba ascended the throne, attributing it to the monarch’s visionary leadership and dedication to the community’s growth.
Dr. Bakre noted that under Oba Adenugba’s reign, the town has experienced a surge in commercial activity, leading to considerable socio-economic development. The cordial relationship between the town and the universities located there, including Olabisi Onabanjo University Community and Aletheia University Community, has contributed to the town’s growth.
The Chairman also pointed out that under Oba Adenugba’s leadership, the Ago-Iwoye five-day market has been transformed into a daily market, and the Rotary Club of Ago-Iwoye has been established. Furthermore, the Age Group Associations (Regberegbes) were revived to promote social activities and foster unity in the community.
Dr. Bakre added that the coronation anniversary celebration is an opportunity to thank God for His guidance and to recognize the support of the people of Ago-Iwoye and well-wishers. Chieftaincy titles will be conferred on deserving individuals as part of the event, honoring their contributions to the town.
