Governor Abiodun Invites Investors: “Come Explore Why We Are the Industrial Capital of the Nation”

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, is encouraging investors worldwide to explore the significant investment opportunities in the state. He assured potential investors that his administration is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to business growth.

The governor made these remarks at the closing event of the 13th Gateway International Trade Fair at the M.K.O Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Laderin, Abeokuta, Ogun.

During the event, Mr. Adewunmi Adeleke, a Protocol Officer with the Ogun State House of Assembly, won the grand prize of a two-bedroom bungalow. Other attendees also received various consolation prizes.

Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphasized the state government’s efforts in creating a welcoming environment for investment and sustainable development.

According to a statement by Wale Osunbiyi, a Press Officer from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the governor noted, “To ensure fair access and transparency, agencies like the Office of Public Private Partnership and the Bureau of Public Procurement have been established, along with the Business Environment Council and the Enterprise Development Agency. These entities support both local and foreign investors, with a focus on MSMEs. These steps aim to improve the business climate and attract foreign direct investment to Ogun State.”

“Investors are welcome to explore the vast investment opportunities in Ogun. All sectors of our economy are open for collaboration. We have prospects in infrastructure, human capital development, and other areas, and we are committed to fostering overall economic development.”

The governor also noted that the state’s efforts to attract more businesses are bearing fruit, with several new companies setting up operations in Ogun.

Commenting on the trade fair, jointly organized by the state government and the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Abiodun described this year’s event, titled “Achieving Economic Prosperity Through Business Connection, Trade, and Investment,” as record-setting, promising that next year’s fair would be even more successful.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Adebola Sofela, highlighted the collaboration among stakeholders that contributed to the trade fair’s success, urging all parties to continue exploring the opportunities generated from the event.

Sofela praised the resilience of businesses that exhibited at the fair and noted that despite national economic challenges, more businesses are moving to Ogun, leading to greater employment opportunities and economic growth.

The President of the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Mike Akingbade, described this year’s event as the best in the fair’s history. He also praised Governor Abiodun for fostering a business-friendly environment.

Akingbade urged the government to strengthen its partnership with the Chambers and called for constructing permanent pavilions at the M.K.O Abiola Trade Fair Complex, Laderin, Abeokuta.

The grand prize winner, Adewunmi Adeleke, expressed his surprise and delight at winning and praised the raffle draw concept, encouraging its continuation in future fairs.

From the perspective of the business community, Rukayat Dairo, Chief Executive Officer of Threadline Coutures, and Rahmat Ahmed, Sales Officer at ParkIn by Raddison, described this year’s fair as a memorable event with significant attendance from both local and international visitors. They, too, called for permanent pavilions at the Trade Fair Complex to enhance future events.
