A gas tanker explosion in the Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta-North Local Government in Ogun State has caused widespread destruction, resulting in the loss of at least four lives and setting six vehicles ablaze.
Reports suggest that the explosion, believed to have been caused by a gas tanker accident, took place as the vehicle was maneuvering along the road’s guardrails, leading to a catastrophic chain reaction.
Emergency response teams, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, quickly arrived on the scene to recover the victims’ bodies and contain the situation.
The fire consumed several vehicles, including taxis, a private car, and a truck. The impact also caused damage to nearby shops and residences.
Authorities and safety officials at the scene have yet to release a full report on the incident.
Witnesses on site mentioned that some injured people were taken to the hospital by the initial responders.
