Tragic Accidents Claim Lives in Ogun State: 4 Dead, 7 Injured in Separate Crashes

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) confirmed on Saturday that four persons lost their lives in two separate accidents in Ogun State.

The first accident, as reported by Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State sector of FRSC, occurred late last night on the Ijebu Ode-Ore Expressway after the Ogbere junction at about 20:34 hrs.

The crash involved two vehicles: a DAF Truck with registration number AYE886ZQ and a Volvo Truck with registration number MUS246YH.

A total of five male adults were involved, with three injured and two killed, trapped inside the vehicle. The injured victims were taken to the State General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, while one of the corpses was handed over to the families of the deceased, and the second one was deposited at the General Hospital morgue in Ijebu-Ode.

The suspected causes of the crash were violations of traffic rules and speeding.

The second crash, which occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the Ogere axis, claimed two lives: one female adult and one female child.

The crash occurred at about 10:30 hrs, involving one vehicle with registration number BDG526JC, a Toyota Camry.

Seven persons were involved in the lone crash: four female adults, one male adult, one male child, and one female child, with five persons injured (one male adult, one female child, one male child, and two female adults).

The cause of this lone crash was excessive speed, which led to loss of control and the vehicle somersaulted.

The injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital in Sagamu for medical attention, and the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the same hospital.

The State Sector Commander of FRSC, Anthony Uga, expressed concern at the rate at which vehicles speed without caution.

He further stated that speed, which is known to be a human factor, should be controlled and not over the limit.

He advised motorists to drive within the posted speed limit and observe road signs.”
