A 14-year-old girl, Shallon Ebitare, reportedly collapsed and died while staying with her 17-year-old boyfriend at a hostel in Bayelsa state.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when the young couple checked into a hotel room in Yenagoa. Unfortunately, the girl collapsed and passed away in the bathroom.

She was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Yenagoa for treatment but was later pronounced dead.

The pair had been in a relationship for several months prior to the tragic event.

Authorities from the Bayelsa State command have arrested the boyfriend on suspicion of involvement in the death.

Confirming the incident, ASP Musa Muhammed, spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, stated that the Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
