Tragic Electrocution Claims Life of 15-Year-Old Girl in Abeokuta

A heartbreaking incident of electrocution unfolded in the Olomore housing estate of Abeokuta, Ogun State, claiming the life of 15-year-old Miracle Ogbonna.

The Ogun State Police Command received a distressing report from Onyekachi Silas, a resident of the area and the elder brother of the deceased.

According to Onyekachi’s account to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Lafenwa, the tragic incident occurred when there was a sudden power outage in their residence.

Amidst the darkness, Miracle, who was residing with her brother and his family, ventured to the well to fetch water. However, unbeknownst to her, the power was swiftly restored by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

In a cruel twist of fate, Miracle was fatally electrocuted by a naked cable wire connected to the pumping machine inside the well.

Despite efforts to rescue her, Miracle succumbed to her injuries. She was promptly rushed to Rose Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced her deceased upon arrival.

The circumstances surrounding the presence of a naked wire within the well remain shrouded in mystery, prompting an immediate investigation by authorities.

The Ogun State Police Command has launched a thorough inquiry into the incident to ascertain any potential negligence or lapses that led to this tragic loss of life.

As the community grapples with the shock and grief of Miracle’s untimely demise, her body has been transferred to the morgue at Oke Lantoro.

The entire neighborhood mourns the loss of a vibrant young life and awaits further updates from the ongoing investigation.

SP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Police Command, urges anyone with relevant information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
