Rescued 137 Schoolchildren Safely Return to Kaduna Gov’t House

The 137 students rescued from Kuriga school in Kaduna State have arrived at Government House amid heightened security to meet with State Governor, Uba Sani, on Monday afternoon.

The schoolchildren arrived at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House at approximately 2:09 pm in three Coaster and two mini buses, escorted from the 1 Division Nigerian Army Headquarters in Kaduna.

Recall that the students were abducted on March 7, 2024, from an LEA and Junior Secondary School in Kuriga village, Chikun local government area of the State. They were eventually rescued by troops on Sunday morning in an undisclosed location in Zamfara State, where the bandits had held them for 18 days.

Parents of the students and leaders of the Kuriga community had earlier gathered at the Government House on Sunday upon hearing the news of the children’s liberation. However, they were informed to return on Monday to be reunited with their children.
