Traffic Alert: Closure of Bridge in Ikorodu by Lagos State Government

The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of the Asolo Bridge in the Ikorodu area of the State to facilitate the rehabilitation of the bridge.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the bridge will be closed from Saturday, 23rd March 2024.

The rehabilitation works will be carried out by the Lagos State Office of Infrastructure.

Osiyemi explained that during the repair process, the Asolo Bridge will be partially cordoned off from Mile 12 to Ogolonto.

For the first phase of the repairs, motorists traveling to Ogolonto/Ikorodu Garage from Ketu will be diverted into the BRT Corridor from Orita Aje Bus stop. They will then exit the lane at Mechanic Workshop to continue their journeys.

In the second phase, motorists heading to Ikorodu Garage from Ketu/Mile 12 axis will utilize the service lane, while all BRT Buses will be diverted to the service lane via Ajegunle exit.

“All motorists (private/commercial and BRT buses) traveling to Ketu/Mile 12 axis from Ogolonto/Ikorodu Garage will continue their journeys through the service lane after Asolo Bridge. Additionally, all BRT Buses will be redirected to the BRT lane at the Ajegunle inlet,” he added.

Osiyemi urged motorists using the corridor to exercise patience as the state government has implemented necessary measures, including Traffic Management Officials and road signage, to minimize inconveniences.
