Amidst the ongoing discord between the Labour Party and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Daniel Bwala, a former spokesman for the now-defunct Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, has alleged that Peter Obi is considering leaving the party to join forces with former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a post on his official X account on Friday, Bwala made this claim, linking the latest development to the ongoing dispute within the Labour Party.
Timeless Update had previously reported the strained relationship between the Labour Party and the country’s labor union over calls for the removal of the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure.
However, discussing the discord, Bwala implied that Obi might join El-Rufai in the SDP as the Labour Party escalates efforts to remove the Abure-led national leadership.
He wrote, “BREAKING – Peter Obi @PeterObi allegedly planning to unite with El-Rufai @elrufai in the Social Democratic Party as the Nigerian Labour Congress prepares to take ownership and custody of their political party, the @NgLabour. Recall that there was a court judgment stating that the Nigeria Labour Congress owns the Labour Party. NLC is now ready to take custody of that party. Twist and turns in the coming days. But all that will not give sleepless nights to @officialABAT, who himself has his magic wands to wield.”
