In a recent development, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) apprehended Kayode Cole for issuing a death threat against the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Ola Olukoyede. Cole was apprehended at the Lugbe axis of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The arrest came after Cole made the death threat through his Instagram handle, “1billionsecretss,” while commenting on a post by popular Instagram blogger, Instablog9ja, on February 1, 2024. The post highlighted the EFCC’s efforts in uncovering money laundering activities within religious sects in Nigeria.
In his comment, Cole ominously predicted Olukoyede’s demise within six months. Upon interrogation, Cole claimed he was merely seeking attention.
The suspect is set to face further investigation and prosecution. This incident follows the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes, as highlighted by Chairman Olukoyede during a recent dialogue on “Youth, Religion, and the Fight Corruption.
