Ekiti Groups Launch Action Programme for 2024 Budget Delivery

A coalition of stakeholders in Ekiti State, led by the civil society organization, New Initiative for Social Development (NISD), has unveiled an action plan titled ‘Tax For Service Group Demands for 2024 budget’ to monitor projects outlined in the state’s budget.

Comprising artisans, hoteliers, CSOs, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), market women, and traditional chiefs, the groups aim to ensure effective and quality delivery of projects.

Foluke Oyeleye, the project coordinator of NISD, emphasized the importance of monitoring projects to ensure taxpayer funds are used efficiently for the benefit of the community.

Chairman of the CSO in Ekiti State, Prof. Christopher Oluwadare, highlighted the group’s commitment to ensuring tax revenues contribute to societal development, particularly in infrastructure like roads, schools, hospitals, and other essential needs.

Projects slated for monitoring include the renovation of 20 public schools, construction of an ICT laboratory, youth empowerment initiatives, economic development for women and schoolgirls, and the provision of sewing machines for tailors.
