Nollywood actress Rita Dominic has shared the deeply personal reasons behind her temporary departure from the entertainment industry to pursue a career as a caregiver in London.

Speaking at the Women of Valour International Women’s Day event in Accra, Ghana, Dominic opened up about the challenging period in her life that prompted her to step away from acting.

Detailing her decision, Dominic disclosed that around 2001/2002, she made the difficult choice to take a hiatus from her thriving acting career. She cited personal struggles and falling out with close friends as contributing factors to her decision.

Seeking solace and a fresh start, Dominic relocated to London, where she sought employment opportunities to sustain herself. It was during this time that she found purpose and fulfillment working as a caregiver in a care home, catering to adults with special needs.

Addressing the audience, Dominic shared, “While some might view it as a step-down, I don’t. Taking care of others brought me joy and purpose at the time I needed it most because I remember I took care of my mother and my father when they were ill because I was alone with them.”

This revelation sheds light on the lesser-known aspects of Dominic’s journey, highlighting her resilience, compassion, and dedication to finding fulfillment beyond the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry.
