Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, supervising the disbursement in Abeokuta, emphasized the governor’s dedication to easing the economic strain on families amid current challenges.
The selection process, as detailed by Prof. Arigbabu, was meticulous and objective, relying on teachers to identify indigent students based on visible signs of need, such as inadequate clothing and educational materials.
Additionally, the commissioner revealed that 50,000 tertiary students from Ogun State will each receive N50,000, with payments already in progress.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, expressed confidence in the transformative impact of the cash award, with recipients pledging to utilize it wisely.
Parents and guardians, including Alhaji AbdulRahaman and Mrs. Funmi Alaka, commended Governor Abiodun for his compassionate gesture, acknowledging its significant contribution to their children’s education.
