The Kano State Hisbah Board has apprehended 11 individuals for eating during the fasting hours.
The arrests were part of the board’s annual Ramadan enforcement operations, which targeted eateries and markets across the city.
According to Lawal Ibrahim, the board’s Public Relations Officer, the arrests occurred on Tuesday, with 10 men and one woman taken into custody.
The woman was caught eating from her groundnut-selling stall, while the men were nabbed near bustling marketplaces.
Lawal emphasized that non-Muslims are not targeted by the enforcement activities unless they’re found selling food to Muslims during fasting hours.
In such cases, they could face charges for violating the fasting regulations.
