The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially sighted the crescent moon marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan for 2024. The announcement was made by the Saudi Supreme Court on Sunday evening, March 10, 2024.
With the sighting of the moon, Ramadan fasting will commence on Monday, March 11, 2024, as Muslims worldwide embark on this sacred period of spiritual reflection and devotion.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia had urged Muslims to keep an eye out for the crescent moon. Those who sighted it were encouraged to report their observations to the nearest court.
While several countries, including Australia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Brunei, have set March 12 as the start of Ramadan, the moon is yet to be sighted in Nigeria as of press time.
