The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Abuja revealed today that Nigerian troops achieved significant successes in counterterrorism operations throughout February. According to DHQ, troops eliminated 974 terrorists and saw 1,157 Boko Haram and ISWAP militants surrender to the military. Additionally, 466 hostages were rescued from terrorist captivity during the month.
Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, provided further details during a briefing on the military’s activities across various theatres of operation in the country. Notably, troops recovered 1,573 assorted weapons and 23,345 arms and ammunition within the same period.
In specific regions, such as the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 242 terrorists, while in the North-West, Operation Hadarin Daji forces neutralized 345 terrorists and rescued 289 hostages. Meanwhile, in the South-South, Operation Delta Safe apprehended 359 suspected oil thieves and seized significant quantities of illegal substances.
