Breaking: Tinubu Inaugurates Lagos Red Line Rail Mass Transit Project

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially launched the inaugural phase of the Red Line Rail Mass Transit project in Lagos State. The momentous event, hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, took place at the Ikeja Mega Station.

Dignitaries gracing the occasion included Governors Usman Ododo (Kogi), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), along with former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. Also in attendance were Chief Rasak Akanni Okoya of the Eleganza Group, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria HC Cui Jianchun, and various other distinguished guests.

The Red Rail Line spans 37 kilometers and boasts 13 stations, strategically integrating key bus terminals and linking vital hubs such as Oyingbo, Yaba, Oshodi, and Ikeja. With connections to both the international and domestic wings of Murtala Muhammed Airport, the system has the capacity to transport an astounding 1.1 million people daily once fully operational.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the commissioning of the project signifies more than just enhancing transit; it marks a pivotal moment in reshaping the urban landscape and ushering in a new era of development for Lagos. By fostering connectivity across the city, the administration aims to unlock opportunities, foster growth, and pave the way for a sustainable future.
