Breaking: Lagos Announces 24-Hour Total Closure of Third Mainland Bridge

The Federal Ministry of Works has declared a total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours to facilitate essential repair works. This closure, slated to commence from 12 noon on Wednesday, February 28, to 12 noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024, will impact both bounds of the carriageways.

The announcement was made by Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who emphasized the necessity of this closure to allow contractors to execute crucial aspects of the ongoing repair works on the bridge.

During this period, all road users are urged to utilize alternative routes that have been provided, as the Third Mainland Bridge will remain inaccessible to traffic for the entire 24-hour duration. To mitigate inconveniences, traffic management officials will be deployed to manage traffic flow effectively.

This closure comes amidst ongoing repair works that have been underway since January, with previous partial closures for inbound and outbound traffics.
