The Ogun State Government has issued a stern warning to residents regarding a fraudulent message circulating on social media platforms. The message falsely claims that Governor Dapo Abiodun is offering a N10,000 cash palliative per person across the state.
The scam message, accompanied by a link, urges individuals to apply for the supposed cash palliative and share the information for others to benefit. However, Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Governor, categorically disclaimed the message, labeling it as an obvious scam.
In a statement released on Sunday, Akinmade emphasized that the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun is dedicated to genuinely alleviating the suffering of citizens through various empowerment programs and policies implemented since 2019, including the recently announced N5 billion intervention scheme.
“The Ogun State Government is not involved in any form of cash transfer program through the fraudulent link provided in the scam message,” the statement clarified, highlighting that the provided link (https://taskcashup.com/get/OGUN-st-relief-funds/Apply/ogun-reg-portal) is unauthorized by the government and poses a significant risk to individuals’ personal information.
Authentic information regarding government intervention programs and initiatives is disseminated solely through official channels, including government websites, press releases, and official social media handles, the statement emphasized.
The public is urged to exercise caution and refrain from sharing such fraudulent messages. The Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, remains committed to its mission of improving the lives of the people, ensuring that assistance is provided in a manner that does not compromise their safety.
